Steve Moore - @DucatiBSB

"Moving up to the Superbike class was a big decision for Moto Rapido, having Scott as rider and additional support from Ducati and our long term sponsors Solent Scientific and Key 2 Group made the move to Evo possible. The help we have had from Ducati’s racing division over the winter means we will start on a very strong footing with a great motorcycle, I’m confident we have a great season ahead of us."

Team Profile

The Moto Rapido Ducati team progress to the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship this season after a season in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship with Scott Smart last year.

Moto Rapido Racing, a small dealer based team started by owner Steve Moore has been involved in club level racing with Ducati since 2003. They moved to national level racing in 2009 when Smart joined them to race the Ducati 1198 in the Superstock 1000 class. The team finished the 2009 season in seventh place in their debut year in the Superstock class with the Ducati 1198S and he had a season of mixed results in 2009 including two podium finishes, but he is one of the most experienced riders on the grid and hungry to win the Evo title.

In 2010 Smart secured a podium finish at Cadwell Park and had a challenging season but the four times BSB race winner is now set for another season in the top class as he vies for honours in the Mirror.co.uk BSB Evo Championship.

The development of the team has been swift as they now move up to the Superbike Evo class in 2011 with Smart who is not only the rider but key in the technical development of building an Evo Superbike.  For 2011 Moto Rapido enjoys strong links to Ducati UK and the Italian factory's racing divisions allowing them to secure a factory built superbike chassis on which they have developed the Ducati 1198R Superbike EVO machine.

The team also runs an award winning Ducati dealership based in Winchester, Hampshire, where their workshop prepare and develop the racing motorcycles.

The move to superbike has seen the team maintain the support from their existing sponsors Solent Scientific and Key 2 Group, along with technical partners in Wurth UK, Akrapovic, Sigma Performance and NGK spark plugs.

In the team alongside Scott is Jamie Poole, riding the teams Ducati 848 Challenge bike with additional, supported by Jamie's key sponsors BSD, Envirotec, EMTS and Hoval Boilers.
