Smart up to fourth in the championship after Round 2 PDF Print E-mail

Another great weekend for Scott Smart and the Moto Rapido team in the British Superstock Series.

With the sun out at Oulton Park, free practice went very well with gains being made in all sessions.  Scott was getting faster through qualifying one with a provisional front row start in fourth place.

In the second qualifying session Scott was matching his fastest laps of the weekend and with a new rear tyre fitted he jumped to second place and was the fastest through the first two sectors of the very technical Oulton park circuit.

The raceday brought the worst weather, not quite wet or dry. A final wash of rain just before the start proved the team’s decision correct to use full wet tyres. However, without any wet set up time it was going to be tricky.

“The track was very slippery with many riders falling in all classes through the warm up sessions. The plan was to explore the grip on a greasy track without taking any great risks.  It was Scott’s experience that paid off, he settled into a good laptime and fourth place. Some great points jump us to 4th in the championship. A very happy team all round.” Steve Moore – Team principal.

“Starting from the front row was much more like it and where we should be, it was a shame that it rained on race day as the dry set up we had was excellent. The Ducati is much more suited to the technical circuits like Oulton where we can make use of the quality chassis. We’re certainly looking forward to Donington now” – Scott Smart.

The next round is at Donington Park on Bank holiday Monday 25th May.
